Vocal Rhythm Oxford is an inclusive vocal performance community where people of all backgrounds and experience levels come together to sing, learn, perform, and build meaningful connections through music.
At Vocal Rhythm Oxford, we believe that the best performances begin with a strong sense of community. We place just as much emphasis on creating a welcoming, supportive environment as we do on preparing for the stage. Along the way, our performers build confidence, develop their skills, form lasting friendships, and create meaningful experiences together. The concerts are the celebration, but the journey is what makes them special!
Anyone with a passion for singing and a collaborative spirit! Whether you've performed for years or only sing in the shower or the car, there's a place for you.
We hear this all the time, and we understand. Vocal Rhythm Oxford was created with the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the joy of singing. You don't need to be perfect to belong here. If you're willing to learn, encourage others, and have fun, we'll help you grow every step of the way.
Not at all. Many of our performers join with little or no formal vocal experience.
No. We teach music in a variety of ways to support different learning styles. This also includes access to audio resources to help guide you while rehearsing from home!
Though a formal audition is not necessary, we do ask each registrant to complete a Performer Profile which includes a brief self-recorded video showcasing your abilities and spirit! This is a helpful tool to allow us to better understand your range and interests. And for returning performers, to better gauge your growth!
Not at all! While some of our performances include light movement or simple choreography, our approach is designed to meet you where you are. We work within each performer's comfort level, skill set, and personal goals, creating opportunities for everyone to participate with confidence. Whether you're excited to move or prefer to focus on singing, we'll help you find your place on stage.
Yes! Many productions include featured solo opportunities. Just let us know your comfort level on your Performer Profile after registration!
Vocal Rhythm Oxford offers a variety of inclusive vocal programs designed for different ages, interests, and experience levels.
Some of our programs include:
- Main Stage – a full-scale performance program featuring themed concerts with harmonies and movement.
- Sing Sesh – a relaxed, community-focused weekly singing experience with no performance pressure!
- High Notes – a youth program for singers grade 6 to 12.
- Community Events – we often have opportunities to go out into the community and perform! From singing O Canada for public community events, to free-to-attend concerts like Downtown Woodstock's Streetfest, coming together to celebrate and uplift our community is always a fun time!

Yes! We regularly host "Sing & See" events where the community can come out to experience what VRO has to offer! To learn about them, sign up for our communications!
Registration & Rehearsals
You're not alone! Many people join on their own, and one of our biggest priorities is helping performers feel welcomed and connected from day one.
Your registration includes everything you need to enjoy a rewarding and successful Vocal Rhythm Oxford experience.
Depending on the program, your registration may include:
- Weekly engaging rehearsals led by our experienced team
- Digital rehearsal resources, including vocal tracks for each voice part so you can practice from home at your own pace
- Sheet music and learning materials
- A Vocal Rhythm Oxford limited edition T-shirt
- Performance opportunities (where applicable)
- Access to a welcoming and supportive community of fellow performers
- Social events and community-building activities throughout the term
- Guidance and encouragement to help you grow in confidence, musicianship, and stage presence
At Vocal Rhythm Oxford, registration is about more than joining a singing group, it's about becoming part of a community where you'll learn, connect, and create memorable experiences through music.
It's important to us, and the success of the program, that everyone involved understands the importance of creating a welcoming, supportive and inclusive environment. Each participant is expected to read and agree to our Performer Code of Conduct.
At Vocal Rhythm Oxford, we believe the best experiences are created when everyone works together toward a common goal. Our program expectations are designed to help foster a positive, respectful, and supportive environment where every performer can learn, grow, and succeed.
As a member of Vocal Rhythm Oxford, you'll be joining a team that values commitment, collaboration, kindness, and community. We ask all performers to review and understand our Program Expectations (found here) before participating so that everyone knows what to expect throughout the term.

Rehearsals take place weekly in the heart of downtown Woodstock, Ontario, Canada.

Children are always welcome to our shows! We even have special pricing for youth age 17 and under. Please read the show description carefully when purchasing your tickets to see is there are any notes of strong language.
Each concert varies, but they typically run between two and two and a half hours in length. This includes a 15 minute intermission.
Each ticketed performance includes a 15 minute intermission. During that time guests can visit our concession where water, pop, chips and chocolate bars are available to purchase for $2. We accept cash, debit and credit.
Yes! Non-flash photography is welcome! Feel free to tag us on our socials! But please note that video and flash photography are not permitted.
